whenua to kai

As we look forward to balmy summer days ahead filled with family and friends, BBQ’s and picnics by the lake, October is all about prepping and planting our kai for the future feast shared with our loved ones.

We are so fortunate in Aotearoa to have such a variety of native and plentiful food growing right here in our own backyard, and if the past couple of years have taught us anything, it is the importance of sustainable food resilience and supporting local producers and growers.

Planting and cultivating land for food has been a part of Aotearoa’s fabric since our earliest human settlers, it is our role as kaitiaki or ‘stewards’ over our land resource, to protect and nourish our whenua for future generations to come.

The importance of our soil health and the choices we make about how we grow food or where we buy it affects not only our land but also our health. When crop and soil biology is right, it pull’s carbon out of the air and stores it in the earth, helping create nutrient rich, fresh fruit and vegetables for you and your family to enjoy. (Bonus, it also reduces green house gas emissions too!)

So this month at Revology we are celebrating all of our incredible local artisans and kai produces working within the sustainable and regenerative horticultural space.

Check out our range of local kai producers and growers online and in-store, a few of our favourites being… Gibson and Green, Branch Creek Honey, Kopuwai Delta, Kitchen Window, Sage & Grace and Augustines.

Join us and our artisans on the regenerative revolution!
